Welcome to the OPDV WebSite

We hope that the information provided on this site will support your local training, educational, and community coordination activities to increase victim safety and promote offender accountability. While much of the information is specific to New York State, we hope that this site is a useful source of information to all those working to improve responses to domestic violence. As a content-driven site, we've organized it in a way that makes it easy for you to find information that will be most helpful to you in your efforts.

A note about our use of gender specific language

Because the vast majority of victims of adult domestic violence are women who are abused by their male partners, the content of the OPDV Website refers to victims as female and abusers as male. However, the majority of the content in this Website will apply to all victims regardless of their gender or the gender of their partner, including gays, lesbians, transgender people, and men who are physically abused by their female partners.
