Intersection of Domestic and Gender-Based Violence with Child Support Training

Offered by Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence (OPDV). Check Human Services Learning Center (HSLC) for dates and registration. This 2.5-hour webinar training will better equip child support workers to:

  • Identify indicators for domestic violence
  • Understand safety concerns and challenges for survivors in seeking child support
  • Incorporate survivor-centered, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed responses when working with customers
  • Learn to use tools, including Get Child Support Safely Model Screening Questions and Practices (a desk reference guide)
  • Provide national, state, and local resources

Offered monthly by the Professional Development Program (PDP) at Rockefeller College, SUNY-Albany. Covers what steps can be taken to maintain the safety of our customers while carrying out child support actions and discusses in detail:

  • Good Cause
  • Domestic violence waivers
  • Setting the Family Violence Indicator
  • Stopping enforcement actions when necessary
  • Safeguarding confidentiality
